Please Note: All quilting classes welcome all skill levels unless otherwise noted on an individual class. KMIS strongly encourages all students without quilting experience to begin by taking Beginning Quilting prior to any specialty classes.

Beginning Machine Quilting
This is the total quilting workshop for beginners. Learn to master techniques such as rotary cutting, strip piecing, perfect points, making the quilt sandwich, basic machine quilting, and binding. Students will complete the quilt within the four sessions with guidance from the teacher. A KMIS employee will gladly assist in selecting fabrics and other materials for the quilt prior to class (at least two days).The final product is a lovely quilt that looks much more difficult than it really is to make.

A Bit Askew
Join this class and learn to make a quilt that can be made completely scrappy or in a planned colored pattern.

Fabulous Cut Flower Block
Learn how to create these stunning flower blooms that only look hard to make. Quilt your bloom, then finish the edges with a rolled hem on a serger (provided in class). Learn how to achieve perfect placement and determine which stabilizer to use with each project during this lecture based demonstration. Instruction will include but is not limited to the following: different types of stabilizers; products to use in stabilizing different articles for embroidery; how to use templates that come with the hoops; how to attain perfect alignment with a variety of items such as hats, socks, and shirts; and how to use Embroiders Friend, The Snappy, and the Embroiders Buddy. This club is exclusive for people who purchased a BabyLock serger from KMIS. This group meets each month and is designed to help serger owners get the most out of their serger. Ruched Border Baby Quilt

Sewing 1-The Basics
This class offers a gentle introduction into the world of sewing. It begins with an introduction to the sewing machine, fabric and pattern selection, notions and techniques. Students will conclude the class by making various simple projects using the newly learned techniques.

Sewing 2... Beyond the Basics
Take your basic sewing skills to the next level while creating a custom made blouse that is both stylish and comfortable. Students will review the skills learned in Sewing 1 and learn new techniques such as inserting a notched collar and pockets, setting in sleeves, and much more. This is a next level class for those people who recently finished Sewing 1.
