Quilters Dream Retreat
with Eleanor Burns

Thirty years ago Eleanor Burns introduced her first book, Quilt in a Day, and she began a quiltmaking revolution. She presented her unique style, a diverse combination of cutting and sewing applications, creating new techniques altogether. This new technique was an incredibly rapid stitching system, applying the method of assembly line sewing to piecework. Eleanor spread her vibrant enthusiasm to everyone. She motivated thousands of want-to-be quilters with needed-confidence and assurance. Her name and techniques have become synonymous with quiltmaking.

Come experience three days of classes in the Quilters Dream Retreat. Eleanor will be teaching a quilt from her new book Victory Quilts. If you’ve seen her PBS show A Quilt in a Day you know this class will be much more than just learning how to quilt! Other class details are being determined, but you are assured a fun and memorable experience.

Meet Kaffe Fassett

Kaffe Fassett is described as one of the foremost experts on the subject of color in design. Traditionally trained as a painter, and taking much of his inspiration from nature, Fassett has a flair for encouraging others to capture the individual inspiration that he knows they possess. He is unparalleled in his ability to make his audiences realize their potential to “create” something truly beautiful and life-enhancing.

The uninhibited use of color is what Kaffe believes can inspire any craftsman to create imaginative original designs. Defying compartmentalization, he doesn’t teach quilting so much as he instructs crafters how to be inspired by what they see and love. He feels everyone has a “creative soul”. This experience will empower you to try new approaches and you will walk away invigorated!

Lecture at DoubleTree Guest Suites Hotel - EDN439
Friday, October 17, 2008 - 6pm-9pm

The NICU Quilt

South Tampa
September 17, 2008
Wednesday
10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Keep Me in Stitches is proud to participate in a project making small quilted covers for the NICU, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Babies are very sensitive to light and noise. Too much of either can be very stressful, even affecting their heart rate and breathing. These small quilts are placed over the isolettes of infants to protect the babies from external stimuli. The darkness and quiet encourages deep sleep which helps the babies to grow and heal.

This is a perfect opportunity to receive Community Service hours for all age groups.
