What's Under Your Needle? Part 2 - Notes From Our Sewing Community

March 23, 2020

In part two of our series, What’s Under Your Needle, we’re checking in with our friends in our sewing community to see how they’re doing (and what they’re creating!)

Sarah’s Sewing Room, Day 2

Sarah tried to come up with a good solution to running out of the Kona Cotton Cantaloupe fabric. She had to come up with something creative, so she picked apart FOUR of her blocks to use the fabric to finish the other 20. Whew! That was a close one.

The pictures she sent show that this part of her project involves the Log Cabin block. We aren’t sure where she’s headed, but we love her blocks!

Now that she has the log cabin part pieced, she started the fun part! (Sarah laughed and said, “the log cabin was fun, too, but this next part is the REALLY fun part! It will give my BERNINA 770 QE Tula Pink Edition a challenge!” Which brings us to that basket of triangles and another CLIFFHANGER! Find out what she’s up to in our next post!

Update from Linda Berg

When we chatted with Linda she told us, “Wednesday I painted my kitchen pantry. I don’t know that it had ever been painted! So I pulled everything out and when I was done, some of it went back. Then I got rid of anything that said to use before 2017 & 2018 – can you identify? What a mess!”

“I found two rolls of shelf liner in my closet. I could have used one more roll but I VERY creatively made what I had work. And to top it off, I found a bag of 15 Bean Soup Mix in there. I found a recipe, started the slow cooker and it was finished at 8 pm. It smelled & tasted wonderful!”

Getting Ready for Easter
Teresa Durling is working away preparing for Easter.

“I am having fun working on little Easter pillows from the Kimberbell Bench Buddies Collection for January through April. I used a 5×7 hoop on my Baby Lock Aventura II for the embroidery part.” Her sewing room is humming along with her machine, Kangaroo cabinet, and fun Kangaroo chair.

We love Teresa’s projects and can’t wait to see them finished! If you’re a Kimberbell fan too, we may have something you like in our online store.
Who's Making Class Samples?

When our Creative Team makes a sample for a class, they often figure out how to use alternative materials to improve the structure of the project, as well as tricks and techniques to make the project easier. Eli Bolesta has done that with her latest project.

Eli just finished a sample for one of her upcoming classes. The Harriet Expandable Tote was a great challenge for her!

She loves to incorporate cork whenever she can, and her Baby Lock Destiny sews through it like butter! This tote is sure to be a hit with Eli’s students. She can’t wait to teach it and share all she’s learned during the next class session.

What’s Under Your Needle?

We’d love to see what you’re working on too! Hop over to our Facebook page and post a pic of your latest project! We love seeing what everyone is working on? Maybe you too will be featured in our series!
Check back with us in a couple of days to see new updates, new people and new projects!

Until then, did you know we’re all over social media? You can find us on Facebook and Instagram as well as Pinterest. We would love for you to follow along!
